Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account: email address and password (hashed by our auth provider), optional display name, and a user ID.
• Garden data: plants, care schedules, care logs, diagnoses, and household membership.
• Photos: images you take or upload to identify plants or diagnose ailments. Photos are stored so you can revisit them in the app and are sent to our AI inference provider solely to generate results for you.
• Location: a city and approximate coordinates you choose for weather-aware tips. We do not access device GPS unless you select a place yourself.
• Subscriptions: purchase and entitlement status for Household Plus (processed by Apple; entitlement status synced via RevenueCat). We do not store your credit card number.
• Device: local notification permission state on your device. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

How we use information

We use your data to run Rootline: authenticate you, sync your garden across devices, send care reminders you enable, manage subscriptions, and power plant identification and diagnosis features.

Sharing

We use service providers to operate the product. They process data only to provide those services:

• Supabase — authentication, database, file storage, and edge functions.
• OpenRouter (and the model providers it routes to) — photo and text analysis for plant identification and diagnosis.
• RevenueCat — subscription entitlement status linked to your account ID (payments stay with Apple).
• Open-Meteo — city geocoding and weather for seasonal tips.
• Apple — App Store billing for Household Plus.

Household members you invite can see shared garden data for that household. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account and garden data while your account is active. You can delete your account in Settings. Deletion removes your account, associated garden data, and plant photos we store for you. If you own a shared household, deleting your account also removes that household for other members.

Children

Rootline is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
